Updated 11/04/09:
OH Word! Zo from Foreign Exchange dropped an Ep the other day. I had the chance to listen to this Ep I downloaded for free(hehe). From what I hear Phonte from Little Brother is featured on the Ep and I wouldn’t doubt it if Nicolay did the tracks. Check it out here to get your free copy(for free)! Zo! – …just visiting too Ep.
1. Perfect Angel
This song has a smooth vibe to it. It’s like somethin you’d hear on a Sunday afternoon, or at a family gathering.
2. Nights Over Egypt
THIS SONG SLAPS! The vibe is raw! It has an ill bassline, and the doubled snare goes! This is a song that would have you movin to thw rhythem without even noticing.
3. Crazy You
A slow smooth acoustic song with a soft hook and cool melody. I’m not feeling it too much. I don’t think there is anything wrong with this track, its not something I’d normally listen to.
4. Holding You, Loving You
An instrumental remake of the classic by Don Blackman. Usually I’m the type to diss remakes, but I can’t with this. It feels like the original. I almost started singin to it because it was that good.
5. My Flame
This song is a remake of Bobby Caldwell’s “My Flame” and features Phonte of Foriegn Exchange and Little Brother. It’s a little updated and has a bounce to it. I’m not mad at it.
6. Somethin’ Special
I’d like to hear this song live in a small venue. I felt happy listening to it. Somethin about the bass line reminds me of Marcus Miller’s “Much Too Much”.
7. The Highways Of My Life (Pts. 1 & 2)
THIS IS THEE DOPEST TRACK! Whoo it’s silky and has a good kick to it. I’d make this the last song at the club. Then they mixed a little Isley Brothers “Make Me Say It Again Girl” in the end to and it just makes the song even better.
All in all I’d give this Ep a 7 out of 10. Its definatly worth checking out if you like any of the mentioned songs I said above in my review, if you like Foriegn Exchange, Maxwell, or if you like smooth jazz. Once again here’s the link to the free download of Zo! Zo! – …just visiting too Ep.
