Krust was doing this style of music before the term Drum and Bass was made, along with Roni Size and others. In this interview he speaks of how he started listening to Hip Hop after watching Wild Style, and how he imitated the movie with his brothers and friends. He talks about the music they later invented saying, “We didn’t really know what we were doing. As far as we were concerned we were just pushing buttons and having fun making beats, just seeing what would happen.” What they were making was a sound that soon took over the world and is still progressing to this day.
When I heard the term Drum and Bass/DnB/D&B growing up I always pictured the rave scene; I didn’t want any part of it. I stayed far away from it. I didn’t know how the roots of Drum and Bass came from Hip Hop, it was just a branch from the tree. The tempo’s between the two are the same, Timbaland’s used it in a couple Jay-Z tracks and nobody noticed. Below I added a link to an important sample used in a lot of Drum and Bass.
I needed this a couple of weeks ago. I walked outside late and once I got in the car, the windows automatically fogged up. I was stuck, the motor needed to warm up before I could defrost. So what did I do? I rolled the windows down and drove with my head sticking out the window. All of this could have been avoided if knew about Dave Hacks‘ latest project. It kind of reminds me of how the Taliban use cell phones to make cars explode, but in a more HUMANE way. The cell phone is connected to a remote starter, which is connected to the car; when you call the phone, the car starts. No more foggy windows!

I can’t wait to get started on doing sound foley(sound fx) on films. I decided it would be my next project coming up in a bit. I’ll join the film club so I can get in on some action. This video shows a behind the scene look into the detail that must go into a movie, and how it relates to sound. I guess you never noticed how keen to sound you are when watching a movie huh. Check out the scene when they’re firing the guns.
Just give me the chance to buy 10,000 songs from iTunes. I could finally own the whole Motown collection! There are movies I’ve never seen; forget netflicks I’d buy movies and watch them like rented them. Hmm I wonder if they have automatic downloads, so everytime Outkast comes out with a new single my computer would automatically download it. How could I forget my iPod: I’m still using a second gen Nano (784 songs will last you a week at a fulltime job), I’d have to upgrade so I could fit all the new music on it.
Where is this coming from? Well Apple is celebrating its ONE BILLIONTH download by give that person a $10,000
gift card–I didn’t know they made them that big.
